OCEAN DAY is an annual celebration and call to action for the protection of the world’s oceans. Oceanday.net is dedicated to chronicling this global expression for ocean protection. This year nearly 10,000 children from Mexico to California to Canada and Alaska are focusing their power on whale protection.

Whales are the largest animals on earth and populate every major ocean. They migrate tens of thousands of miles each year to feed, mate and give birth.

Today they are in peril due to human pollution, global warming, over fishing, military sonar, and an expansion of whaling activities.

Children all along the Pacific Coast of North America are joining together to form giant human whales as a call for courageous action to help save these majestic beings.
